Privacy and Personal Data

Which data we process and why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and where advertising stands in this picture.

Last updated: 3 August 2026

Depending on the features used, the following may be processed: first and last name, e-mail address, account and profile information, encrypted password information, favorites, recipe and blog preferences, content submitted by the user, comments, IP address, browser and device information, session records, security records, cookie preferences, contact and support requests, and e-mail delivery information. This data may be used to create a user account, enable sign-in, protect account security, verify e-mail addresses, perform password resets, store favorites and personal preferences, respond to user support requests, prevent misuse, improve site performance, detect technical errors, fulfill legal obligations, improve the user experience and, where permission has been given, send informational messages. For visit statistics, only the country is derived from the IP address during the request, using a local database on the server. The IP address is not stored, recorded or sent to third parties for this purpose. The record contains only the total number of visits by day and by country.

Personal data may be shared only to the extent necessary to deliver the service, with hosting and server providers, e-mail delivery services, security services, error and performance monitoring tools, backup and storage services, analytics tools and legally authorized institutions. Analytics, advertising or tracking systems that are not in use are not presented in this text as if they were. Personal data is kept only for as long as necessary. When the retention period ends, data may be deleted, anonymized, archived for a limited period due to a legal requirement, or removed entirely at the end of the backup cycle. A request to delete an account may not mean that data is deleted from all technical backups immediately. Data held in backups is deleted within the normal backup cycle.

To protect user data, House Chef Cyprus may apply measures such as HTTPS connections, secure password hashing, an authorization and role system, security records, session security, software updates, backups, limits on login attempts, misuse detection and database access control. No internet system can offer an absolute security guarantee. Users need to protect their own devices and passwords.

Advertising and Third Parties

Advertisements provided by Google may be displayed on the House Chef Cyprus site. Third-party providers, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on users' previous visits to this site and to other sites. Advertising cookies may be used to display ads, limit how many times an ad is shown, measure advertising performance and prevent misuse. In this context, IP address, browser and device information, approximate location and on-site browsing information may be sent to the advertising provider. House Chef Cyprus does not send direct identifying information, such as first name, last name, e-mail address or password, to the advertising provider.

Advertising and measurement consent for users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland is obtained separately through a consent management platform certified by Google. No personalized ad requests are made unless consent has been given. Users may change their decision at any time, and the consent screen can be reopened through the site. Consent given to measurement is not treated as advertising consent, and the two choices are kept separate.

Users can turn off personalized ads at https://adssettings.google.com. Detailed information about Google's use of data for advertising purposes is available at https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads. For general preference management of third-party providers, https://www.aboutads.info/choices and https://www.youronlinechoices.com/tr may be used. No ads are shown to accounts that use a paid membership.

User Rights

Under applicable legislation, users may have the right to learn whether their data is being processed, to request information about processed data, to learn the purpose of processing, to learn the parties to whom data is transferred, to request correction of inaccurate information, to request deletion when the conditions arise, to object to the outcome of automated evaluations, and to claim compensation where damage has arisen from unlawful processing. Users may apply to info@housechefcyprus.com for matters concerning account deletion, personal data requests, information correction, content removal, copyright notices, recipe errors, privacy questions, cookie preferences and technical support. For an application to be evaluated, the request must be clearly stated. Where necessary, additional information may be requested to verify the account owner.
